LTL’s business model is designed so the app earns trust during the most vulnerable moments. The free tier is meaningful rather than a trial, and the most important long-term cost (storing memorial data for decades) has a purpose-built SKU.

Tiers

Free includes the unlimited Personal track, a few active Pairings, a couple of small Family Spaces, one Memorial Candle, a baseline of media storage, the curated prompt library, data export, and standard notifications.

Plus (a low monthly or annual subscription) adds unlimited Pairings, more and larger Family Spaces, more Memorial Candles, expanded storage, opt-in AI prompt generation, themed prompt packs, voice entries with transcription, advanced profile fields, and priority support.

Perpetual Memorial (a one-time fee, per memorial) guarantees long-term preservation of a single memorial beyond the account holder’s subscription. It is transferable and giftable, includes an offline export bundle, and endows the memorial’s storage for a long horizon, recommitted on a rolling basis.

What Is Free Forever

  • A user’s own authored content.
  • Data export.
  • Account deletion and data removal.
  • Essential death-transition features (Path A and Path B initiation).
  • One Memorial Candle per user.

Grief-Aware Pricing Rules

  • Bereavement freeze: any account with a Memorial Candle created in the last 90 days receives Plus free for six months, no questions asked. This is not marketing copy; it is simply how the app treats grieving users.
  • No ads, ever. Not in any tier, not as an unlock. The unit economics of ads and the unit economics of this product are fundamentally incompatible.
  • Gift flow: both Plus and Perpetual Memorial can be gifted, so someone outside the family can contribute to preserving a memorial they care about.

Why This Model

Plus is the main revenue source, priced to be accessible. Perpetual Memorial is a one-time decision that matches the emotional reality: you make one decision about preserving a loved one’s memorial, not a monthly one. Its endowment is structured with a large margin of safety against decades of storage cost and is a candidate for an independent legal entity that protects memorials against acquisition, bankruptcy, or shutdown.
