Key Achievement: Established and validated KMP-compatible ViewModel pattern that eliminates memory leaks and prepares codebase for iOS development.

Overview

Three consecutive weeks of focused work established the ViewModel → Presenter migration pattern as a proven, repeatable approach for iOS readiness. The pattern successfully scaled from simple equipment ViewModels to medium-complexity components while maintaining exceptional code quality and test coverage.

Week 17: Pattern Establishment (6 ViewModels)

Key Lessons Learned

1. Combined PR Strategy Works

Discovery: Multiple weeks can share a PR if work is sequential and related.

Example: PR #211 contained Week 17 + Week 18

  • Benefit: Atomic deployment of related work
  • Trade-off: Larger PR, but logical grouping

Guideline: If Week N+1 builds directly on Week N and fixes are needed in both, consider combining.

2. Memory Leak Pattern Identified and Fixed

Problem: Manual collectLatest in loadX() methods creates uncancelled collectors.
